Why McCormick Village's Bakery Opens Before Its Yoga Studio

October 29, 2026

At the corner of SW Old Clifton Road and McCormick Village Drive, Buildings A and B are nearly finished. The bakery inside is aiming to open before the end of 2026, while a veterinary clinic in the same first phase is targeting 2027.

McCormick Village Retail won't open all at once. The developer has to finish the buildings. Then each business has to finish its own space inside them, on its own budget and schedule. That second finish line decides what you can walk into by year-end and what you'll wait until 2027 for.

Two finish lines inside the same walls

The plan was simpler when it was announced. In March, the Port Orchard Independent, via Kitsap Daily News, reported that the 30,000-square-foot center was nearly 50 percent pre-leased. Buildings A and B were scheduled to be done "later this summer," Buildings H and I were slated for spring 2027, and more buildings would follow as leases filled.

Summer came and went. The developer's October 1 update says Buildings A and B are "nearing completion." It also says "tenant improvements underway," and that phrase explains the opening order. Tenant improvements are the interior buildout each business does once it has its walls: counters, plumbing, equipment, finishes. On the same page, a rendering caption puts Building A's completion at Q4 2026.

A bakery, a dental office and a vet clinic all need very different interiors. Even when they share a phase, they reach opening day at different times.

Wilson Patisserie is closest to the door

The first place you'll probably get to sit down at McCormick Village is Wilson Patisserie. It's run by Jen and Alex Wilson. Jen is the founder and executive pastry chef, and Alex brings more than 25 years of restaurant, hotel, catering and private-chef experience. Before signing for a storefront, they built the business through farmers markets, pop-ups and custom orders.

The McCormick space is about 2,800 square feet. It's planned as a scratch bakery, café and coffeehouse with light breakfast and lunch, weekend brunch, and a beer, wine and cocktail program. The published menu lists sweet and savory croissants, kouign-amann, morning buns, cinnamon and sticky buns, crumble buns, quiche and coffee. The center's own tenant page says "COMING End of 2026."

Jen Wilson explained the goal in an October 13 essay for Kitsap Business:

"Our goal is not to imitate a bakery in Paris or transplant a Seattle concept into Port Orchard. It is to create a neighborhood institution that belongs to this community."

The same essay shows how much work is left after the walls go up. She writes that the landlord is making "a substantial investment in the buildout" and that the couple has "invested deeply" too. They're now raising a final $50,000 for furnishings, equipment, serviceware and opening inventory. That's the tenant's finish line, and it's separate from the building's. End of 2026 is a target. Until the Wilsons announce a date, treat it that way.

Forestview Dental shares the year-end target

The other business aiming for 2026 is Forestview Dental. It describes itself as a locally owned, non-corporate practice led by Dr. Cameron Warner, a Puget Sound native with more than 13 years in practice. Its listed services include restorative dentistry, root canals, Invisalign and implants. The center lists it as "Coming Soon | Winter 2026," and the October update puts it alongside Wilson Patisserie with a before-year-end target.

For anyone in McCormick Woods, the first two openings are a morning coffee stop and a dentist. Both are errands you'd normally drive into Port Orchard or across SR 16 for. The spa and yoga that make it a gathering place come later.

The opening order as of the October update

Here's the sequence based on the developer's update and the individual tenant pages, with the dates each one lists:

  1. Wilson Patisserie and Forestview Dental. Both are targeting before the end of 2026.
  2. McCormick Veterinary Clinic. The October update says Q1 2027. The clinic's own tenant page says "Coming Soon Spring 2027." The two pages don't match, so check before you plan a pet's next appointment around either one.
  3. Thrive Yoga. Its page says "Coming in Spring 2027." This will be Thrive's second studio. It has been locally owned in Kitsap since 2019, and it says its Bremerton studio has welcomed more than 4,500 students. Classes range from heated and unheated flow to restorative and beginner options.
  4. Salt & Sage Massage and Skincare. This boutique spa already operates at Marina Square in downtown Bremerton and offers massage and facials. Its McCormick page header says "COMING 2027." Two signed tenants don't fit anywhere in that order yet. Village Pharmacy and Honey & Mane Hair Studio have no published opening date. The center describes Village Pharmacy as an independent pharmacy offering prescriptions, medication counseling, immunizations, pet medications and delivery. Honey & Mane was previously called Calibre Salon.

Two more listings are easy to misread. The center's directory shows an HOA Office in Building H, which the March report placed in the spring 2027 phase. It also lists something called The Gym, marked "Coming 2027." That one isn't a public gym. It's a self-access fitness space for residents of The Residences at McCormick Village who opt in.

The March leasing announcement described the center as a place where residents could "meet neighbors, grab coffee, run errands." On the current targets, coffee and a dentist come first, by the end of 2026, and the vet, yoga and spa follow in 2027.

Where McCormick gathers in the meantime

Until the village center fills in, the community calendar still runs through McCormick Woods Golf Club at 5155 McCormick Woods Dr SW. Here's what's listed for the rest of the season:

  • Wednesday, November 11. The golf club's calendar lists free green fees and a meal for veterans on Veterans Day.
  • Thanksgiving To Go. The Clubhouse Restaurant and Bar lists a take-home Thanksgiving meal on its events page under "Wed Nov 18th." The listing doesn't print a year, so confirm ordering details with the club.
  • Saturday, December 5. The Santa Sleighs 5K and Kids Reindeer Run starts at the golf club. The free kids' run goes at 9:30 a.m. and the 5K at 10 a.m.
  • Sunday, December 13. McCormick Communities hosts the Jingle Jog at the golf course. The City of Port Orchard notice estimates about 60 walkers and runners from 9 to 10 a.m. It warns of temporary congestion on St. Andrews Drive, McCormick Woods Drive, Marymac Drive and Hawkstone Avenue, so plan around those streets that morning.

Getting around the area has been easier since early October too. WSDOT reopened SR 160/Sedgwick Road to all traffic at 5:30 p.m. on October 3, ahead of its late-October schedule. A new bridge now replaces the Salmonberry Creek culvert, and only minor planting work remained at reopening.

The next real milestone at the corner of Old Clifton Road and McCormick Village Drive will be Wilson Patisserie or Forestview Dental announcing an actual opening day. A target date doesn't count.

I'm watching McCormick Village Retail closely because new places to gather change how the whole McCormick area feels to live in. If you'd like to talk about what the new village center means for your corner of Port Orchard, Catt Johnson is easy to reach. Book a Call whenever it suits you.
